From Europe to Paraguay and Matto-Grosso is a travelogue written by Marion G. Mulhall, originally published in 1877. The book chronicles Mulhall's journey from Europe to South America, where she explored the regions of Paraguay and Matto-Grosso. Throughout the book, Mulhall provides vivid descriptions of the landscapes, people, and cultures she encounters on her journey. She also provides historical and political context for the regions she visits, including the aftermath of the Paraguayan War and the impact of European colonization on indigenous populations.Mulhall's observations are informed by her background as a journalist and social reformer, and she frequently comments on issues such as women's rights, education, and social justice. She also includes anecdotes about her interactions with local people, including indigenous tribes and European settlers.Overall, From Europe to Paraguay and Matto-Grosso offers a fascinating glimpse into South America in the late 19th century, as seen through the eyes of an intrepid traveler and social commentator. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
