Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Lives of Good Servants is a book written by Anne Manning in 1857. The book is a collection of stories about individuals who have worked as servants in various households throughout history. Manning's aim in writing this book is to provide a glimpse into the lives of these often-overlooked individuals and to highlight the importance of their contributions to society. The stories in the book are drawn from a variety of sources, including historical records, personal accounts, and fictional narratives. They cover a wide range of time periods, from ancient Greece to nineteenth-century England, and feature servants of different social classes and backgrounds. Through these stories, Manning explores the challenges and rewards of being a servant, as well as the relationships between servants and their employers. She also touches on broader social and political issues, such as the role of women in society and the impact of industrialization on the working class. Overall, Lives of Good Servants is a fascinating and insightful look at a largely overlooked aspect of history. Manning's engaging writing style and attention to detail make this book a must-read for anyone interested in social history or the lives of ordinary people throughout the ages. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
