Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Mephistophiles in England V1: Or The Confessions of a Prime Minister (1835) is a novel written by Robert Folkestone Williams. The book tells the story of a Prime Minister who makes a deal with Mephistophiles, a demon from German folklore, in order to gain power and achieve his political ambitions. As the Prime Minister's power grows, he becomes increasingly corrupt and immoral, leading to a series of scandals and political upheavals. The novel explores themes of ambition, power, and the corrupting influence of unchecked authority. It is a satirical and darkly humorous commentary on the political climate of 19th-century England, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of making deals with the devil. In Two Volumes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
