Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Letters To The Authors Of The Plain Tracts For Critical Times is a book written by John Sibbald Edison in 1839. The book is a collection of letters addressed to the authors of the Plain Tracts for Critical Times, a series of pamphlets published by the Tractarian Movement in the Church of England. The Tractarian Movement, also known as the Oxford Movement, was a group of Anglican theologians who sought to restore the Catholic elements of the Church of England. In his letters, Edison criticizes the Tractarians for their views on the Church of England, the sacraments, and the authority of the Bible. He argues that the Tractarians are promoting a form of Roman Catholicism that is incompatible with the Anglican tradition. Edison also defends the Protestant Reformation and the principles of the English Reformation. The book is a significant contribution to the theological debates of the 19th century and sheds light on the tensions within the Church of England during this period. It is a valuable resource for scholars of Anglican theology, the history of the Church of England, and the Tractarian Movement. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
