Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The book ""Plea For A New English Version Of The Scriptures"" by David Johnston, published in 1864, is a call for a new translation of the Bible into English. The author argues that the existing translations, such as the King James Version, are outdated and difficult for modern readers to understand. Johnston advocates for a new translation that is accurate, clear, and accessible to all readers, regardless of their education level. He also argues that a new translation would help to unify different denominations and promote greater understanding and cooperation among Christians. Throughout the book, Johnston provides examples of passages that he believes are particularly difficult to understand in existing translations and offers suggestions for how they could be rendered more clearly. Overall, ""Plea For A New English Version Of The Scriptures"" is a passionate argument for the importance of having a Bible translation that is both faithful to the original text and accessible to contemporary readers. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
