Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Sermons Preached to English Congregations in India is a book written by George Edward Lynch Cotton and published in 1867. The book is a collection of sermons that Cotton delivered to English congregations in India during his tenure as Bishop of Calcutta from 1858 to 1866. The sermons cover a wide range of topics, including the nature of God, the importance of prayer, the role of the church in society, and the need for moral and spiritual guidance. Cotton draws on his extensive knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology to provide insightful and thought-provoking commentary on these issues. In addition to his theological insights, Cotton also provides a unique perspective on the experience of English Christians living in India during the mid-19th century. He addresses the challenges and opportunities that come with living in a foreign land, and he encourages his listeners to embrace their new surroundings while remaining faithful to their Christian beliefs. Overall, Sermons Preached to English Congregations in India is a fascinating glimpse into the world of English Christianity in colonial India. It provides both spiritual guidance and historical insight into a fascinating period of world history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
