Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Silcote of Silcotes is a novel written by Henry Kingsley and published in 1895. The story is set in England during the early 19th century and follows the lives of two brothers, Julian and Richard Silcote, who inherit their family estate, Silcotes, after the death of their father. Julian is the elder brother and is portrayed as a selfish and arrogant character who is more concerned with his own interests than the welfare of his family or estate. Richard, on the other hand, is kind-hearted and responsible, and is determined to restore Silcotes to its former glory. As the story unfolds, the brothers' differing personalities and approaches to managing the estate lead to conflict and tension between them. Meanwhile, a love triangle develops between Julian, Richard's wife, and a local squire, adding further complications to the already turbulent family dynamics.Throughout the novel, Kingsley explores themes of family, loyalty, love, and the consequences of selfishness and greed. The book is written in a descriptive and engaging style, providing readers with a vivid picture of life in rural England during the 19th century.Overall, Silcote of Silcotes is a compelling and thought-provoking novel that offers a fascinating glimpse into the social and cultural norms of its time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
