""The Legend of the Sleeping Giant"" is a poem written by Charles G. Merriman in 1887. The poem tells the story of a giant who sleeps beneath the hills of Connecticut, waiting to be awakened by the sound of a trumpet. The giant is said to have been a member of a tribe of giants who once roamed the earth, and he is the last of his kind. The poem describes the beauty of the surrounding landscape and the power and majesty of the giant. It also explores themes of loneliness, isolation, and the passing of time. The poem is written in a lyrical and descriptive style, with vivid imagery and a strong sense of atmosphere. It is a classic example of American poetry from the late 19th century and has been widely anthologized and studied. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
