Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Man In The Moone: Or The English Fortune Teller is a novel written by James Orchard Halliwell and originally published in 1849. The story follows the adventures of a young Englishman named Domingo Gonsales who, after a series of misfortunes, decides to build a flying machine and travel to the moon. Once there, he discovers a strange and wondrous world inhabited by a variety of creatures, including talking animals and a race of intelligent beings known as Selenites. As Gonsales explores the moon and interacts with its inhabitants, he also becomes embroiled in a series of political and romantic intrigues. He falls in love with a beautiful Selenite princess and becomes embroiled in a power struggle between different factions of the moon's ruling class. The Man In The Moone is notable for being one of the earliest works of science fiction in the English language, and for its vivid and imaginative descriptions of life on the moon. The novel also contains elements of satire and social commentary, with Halliwell using the moon as a metaphor for society and its various flaws and injustices. Overall, The Man In The Moone is a fascinating and entertaining work of early science fiction that continues to captivate readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
