Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""The Greek Gulliver: Stories From Lucian"" is a collection of satirical stories written by the ancient Greek writer Lucian of Samosata, translated and compiled by John Alfred. Lucian's stories, written in the 2nd century AD, are a humorous and critical commentary on the society and culture of his time. The stories follow the adventures of a character named Menippus, who travels to various fantastical lands and encounters bizarre creatures and customs. Through Menippus's experiences, Lucian satirizes the beliefs and practices of different cultures, as well as the philosophical and religious debates of his time. Alfred's translation aims to capture the wit and humor of Lucian's original Greek, making this classic work accessible to modern readers. This book is a fascinating glimpse into the ancient world and a testament to the enduring power of satire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
