The Serf Sisters: Or The Russia Of Today is a novel written by John Berwick Harwood in 1855. The story is set in Russia during the mid-19th century, a time when serfdom was still prevalent. The novel follows the lives of two sisters, Irina and Nadya, who are born into a wealthy aristocratic family but are forced to confront the harsh realities of serfdom when their father dies and they are left with no means of support. The sisters are forced to sell their estate and move to the city, where they are confronted with the poverty and suffering of the serfs. As they struggle to survive, they become involved in the revolutionary movement and begin to fight for the emancipation of the serfs.
