The Count And The Congressman is a novel written by Mrs. Burton Harrison and published in 1908. Set in Washington D.C., the story follows the lives of two men from vastly different backgrounds: Count Vavel, a wealthy European aristocrat, and Congressman John St. John, a hardworking American politician. When Count Vavel arrives in Washington to negotiate a business deal, he becomes embroiled in a scandal involving a young woman and her unscrupulous suitor. Meanwhile, Congressman St. John is grappling with his own personal and political challenges, including a difficult reelection campaign and a complicated relationship with a beautiful young woman. As the two men's paths cross, they find themselves drawn into each other's worlds and forced to confront the complex issues of love, honor, and duty that shape their lives. With its vivid descriptions of turn-of-the-century Washington society and its compelling characters, The Count And The Congressman is a timeless tale of love and ambition that continues to captivate readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
