Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

""Tacitus and Bracciolini: The Annals Forged in the Fifteenth Century"" is a historical book written by Poggio Bracciolini, an Italian humanist, in 1878. The book explores the controversy surrounding the authenticity of the Annals of Tacitus, a Roman historian who chronicled the reigns of the Roman emperors from Tiberius to Nero. Bracciolini argues that the Annals were forged in the fifteenth century, rather than being a genuine work of Tacitus. He presents evidence to support his claim, including discrepancies in the language and style of the Annals compared to Tacitus' other works, as well as historical inaccuracies and anachronisms. The book also delves into the political and social context of the fifteenth century, discussing the motivations behind the forgery and the impact it had on Renaissance scholarship. Overall, ""Tacitus and Bracciolini: The Annals Forged in the Fifteenth Century"" offers a fascinating insight into the world of historical forgery and the challenges faced by scholars in determining the authenticity of ancient texts. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
