Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Parnell Commission is a historical book that features a speech given by Charles Russell in defense of Charles Stewart Parnell, an Irish nationalist leader who was accused of supporting violent activities in Ireland. The speech was delivered in 1889 during the Parnell Commission, a public inquiry into the alleged involvement of Parnell and other Irish leaders in the Phoenix Park murders, which took place in 1882. Russell's speech is considered one of the most powerful and eloquent defenses in legal history, and it played a significant role in the eventual acquittal of Parnell and the other accused leaders. The book provides a detailed account of the Parnell Commission and the events leading up to it, as well as an analysis of Russell's defense and its impact on Irish politics and history. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Irish nationalism, legal history, and the role of political trials in shaping public opinion. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
