Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Playground of Satan is a novel written by Beatrice Baskerville and published in 1918. The story takes place in the early 20th century and follows the protagonist, a young woman named Joan, who is sent to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle in London after the death of her parents. Joan is initially excited to explore the city and experience the glamour of high society, but she soon discovers a darker side to her new surroundings. She becomes entangled with a group of wealthy and influential individuals who are involved in various forms of debauchery, including drug use, gambling, and sexual promiscuity. As Joan becomes more involved with this group, she begins to question her own morals and values. She is torn between her desire to fit in and the nagging feeling that something is deeply wrong with the lifestyle she has adopted. The Playground of Satan is a cautionary tale about the dangers of succumbing to temptation and the importance of staying true to one's own beliefs. It offers a glimpse into the decadent world of the British upper class during the early 20th century and explores themes of morality, social class, and personal identity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
