The poems are short and light-hearted, often dealing with topics such as love, nature, and everyday life. The title of the book, Trifles In Verse, suggests that the poems are not meant to be taken too seriously and are simply meant to be enjoyed as light entertainment. The book is a reflection of the popular poetry of the time, which was often written for a general audience and focused on easily accessible themes.
