Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

The Natural History of Selborne: And the Naturalist's Calendar is a classic work of natural history written by Gilbert White and originally published in 1789. This edition, published in 1895, includes both the original text of The Natural History of Selborne and White's Naturalist's Calendar, a year-long journal of his observations of the natural world. The book is set in the small village of Selborne, Hampshire, England, where White lived and observed the local flora and fauna. The Natural History of Selborne is a collection of letters written by White to his friends and fellow naturalists, in which he describes the plants, animals, and insects he encountered in the area. The book is divided into three parts, each focusing on a different aspect of the natural world: birds, quadrupeds, and insects. The Naturalist's Calendar is a month-by-month journal of White's observations of the natural world, from the first signs of spring to the onset of winter. White records the arrival and departure of migratory birds, the flowering of plants, and the behavior of insects and other creatures throughout the year. The Natural History of Selborne: And the Naturalist's Calendar is a charming and informative look at the natural world as it existed over two hundred years ago. White's vivid descriptions and keen observations make this book a must-read for anyone interested in the natural world, history, or literature. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
