Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Barns, buggies and troikas are part of this adventure story which takes place at the turn of the twentieth century in the Russian Empire. The story delineates the social and economic forces which propel the characters to make new and bold decisions about their lives. Povilas, the protagonist, is constantly searching for freedom from the long arm of the Russians. Through his travels, he meets the love of his life. Together they explore the challenges and rewards that love offers. Historial research intertwined with family anecdotes make this an exceptionally interesting story. It is an inspiring account of what life was like several generations ago in the Baltic. Yet, it ties in with monumental tide of immigrants coming to the United States. Love of family and love of freedom make this book's message universal, suitable for all readers, including young adult readers.
