Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

In this debut collection of short stories, Ng Kui Choo opens little windows into the lives of the nondescript caught up in situations over which they have no control. Set against the backdrop of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage and unique racial tapestry, Tears of the Batang Ai is a collection of deceptively ordinary but beautifully-crafted vignettes that aptly capture the poignancy of the nondescript struggling to come to terms with the various facets in which life presents itself. The strength of the stories lies in Ng's ability to engage and draw the reader deep into the captivating folds of each story with her earnestness and disarming simplicity.
