Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

In an undisclosed location in the remote outskirts of the Utah desert, a team of scientists, surgeons, and geneticists labor in secret-and horrifying inhumanity. Driven by desperation brought on by the unbeatable assault of a flesh-eating virus, the compound was created to find a cure for the pandemic-or so it seems. Olivia Johnson, a recently recruited, beautiful, young, and idealistic doctor, is also driven by need when she accepts a position at the compound. After all, she reasons, $1.5 million for five years of work isn't a bad deal. But a mere sixteen months into her five-year contract, she discovers that all is not as it seems. Secrets lurk around every corner. She learns that she is just as trapped as the prisoners in this secret organ farm driven by profit and without ethics. She struggles with her part in the cruel and inhumane treatment of the prisoners. Johnson must find a way to protect both her sanity and her life under the unyielding scrutiny of Shishi Hitotsu, the beastly six-foot Japanese businessman who is also the primary owner of the compound. His motivation, she learns, is disturbingly personal: he is compelled by fear and duty to do the unthinkable to save his mother, who is also slowly dying from the virus. Olivia's only protection is harbored within: her own blood may hold the key to an effective defense against the virus. Will that be enough to save her when her enemies know what she knows?
