Kurzbeschreibung des Verlags

Health insurance is a century-old bet-that illness will stay frequent, costly, and unpredictable. Biology is about to win. For a hundred years, the health plan's business has rested on a single wager: that disease would remain common enough to pool, expensive enough to fear, and unpredictable enough to insure. Artificial intelligence is making illness predictable. Biotechnology is making it preventable-and increasingly curable. Together, they are dismantling the founding logic of an entire industry. In The Bet Against Biology, physician-futurist Rubin Pillay maps the Great Inversion now underway: from insurance, which prices sickness, to outsurance, which pays members for verified health, to Prosurance-the health plan reinvented as an enterprise that profits by producing health. He shows why the legacy model cannot be reformed from within, what the new financial architecture looks like, and how leaders can navigate the transition with a thirty-year roadmap that begins Monday morning. For executives, actuaries, clinicians, and boards, this is the operating manual for the biggest business-model inversion in modern healthcare.
