From a working-class background, he graduated from UCLan in 2008 and completed a Masters in Creative Writing at LJMU in 2012. He won the Liverpool Literary Festival Short Story Competition 2024 and has self-published a collection of short stories, The Dogs on the Beach & Other StoriesHe was shortlisted for the Sunderland Short Story Award 2018 and longlisted in 2019. He was also longlisted for the Cambridge Short Story Prize 2021. He is currently working on his first novel.
