PéturHalldórsson baseshisresearchonthework of theIcelandic scholarEinar Pálsson, who discovered this ancient structure of thought. The principal reference points of the measure involved were themotions of the celestialbodiesand the cardinal directions. In fact thecosmogram wasa projection of the Zodiac, anchored to prominentlandmarks on the ground and the Sun'sannual path around it. It wasat oncesacredand apractical sun watch. Theancient approach is akinto a yardstick, which appliesnot only to the ancient sun watch in Iceland, recent researchestablishesthat the like referenceframe wasusedin antiquity in all partsof theglobe."I proposethat suchacosmograminitiated the famousStoneageconstructions in Europe and underliescultivated areasoftheworld. Thus;Jelling,Denmark - St.Denis,France- the Vatican, Rome- Marathon, Greece- Marble Arch, TheTower ofLondon, andGlastonbury, Avebury, andStonehengein Somerset, andlast but not least,Bergþórshvoll, Iceland, arerooted on agrid, suggestingtheir location is according to ameasuredplanthat predatesthem".
