Among the papers are: Suggestions for the Collection and Evacuation of Veterinary casualties in a Cavalry; Transfer of the Cavalry Division to the United Kingdom. Administrative instructions No. 12.The diary opens at Aldershot on 10 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Le Nieppe, Bailleul, Neuve-Eglise, Givry and Aldershot. 1915 at Le Nieppe, Esquelbecq, Samer, Ecques and Rebecq. 1916 at Samer, Friville, Canaples, Allonville and France. 1917 is the most travelled year, 319 places against 206 in the next busiest, and is spent at Samer, Busnes, La Flaque, Desvres and Clenleu. 1918 at Horrem, Flamicourt, Maresquel, Lillers and Candas. 1919 at Bergheim and Quadrath Bergheim. It closes at Bergheim on 19 September 1919. Samer is where it spent longest, 319 days across 34 separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 266 days at Horrem.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Montigny Farm, Chateau at Ploegsteert, Chateau Watteville and Trones Wood.In 1914 it is also recorded at Havre, Mauberge, Gueshard, Brias, Marles, Bethune, St Omer, Dranoutre, Chateau at Ploegsteert and Ploegsteert.
