It names 176 places across 244 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two casualty and personnel returns, four reports, narratives and plans, one Operation Order and eleven diagrams. Among the papers are: Casualty list to This Date; Died this day also of the Inniskilling Dragoons who killed when going to see the machine; Report on operations carried out by the 5th Dragoon Guards near Vauvillers on August 8th; Report on, 11th Hussars of Events Aug.26,1914 Appendix "A".The diary opens at Aldershot on 14 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Beugin to Merville, Nery, Aldershot, Near Ypres and Oeuilly. 1915 at Zermezeele, Inclusive, Rubrouck, Lottinghem and Estreelle. 1916 at Attin, Neuville, Querrieu, Brexent and Bonneville. 1917 at Brexent, Desvres, Montcavrel, Auchy Les Hesdin and Lapugnoy. 1918 is the most travelled year, 67 places against 46 in the next busiest, and is spent at Buire, Torte Fontaine, Paffendorf, Erny-St-Julien and Amplier. 1919 at Elsdorf Germany and Paffendorf. It closes at Paffendorf on 15 February 1919. Attin is where it spent longest, 197 days, including a single unbroken stay of 182 and it came back to Brexent six separate times.In 1914 it is also recorded at Harve, Maubeuge, Jeumont, Blanzy, Lime, Line to Longpont 19 Miles, Longpont to Bethancourt 19 Miles, Bethancourt to Mont Martin, Montmartin to Coulmelle miles and Coulmelle to Fremont. In 1915 it is also recorded at Ypres, Fletre, Houtkerque, Esquelbecq, Eecke, Nr. Ypres, E of Ypres, N of Potijze, Vlamertinghe and Hooge. In 1916 it is also recorded at Neuville sous Montreuil, Montcavrel, Bresle, Conde, Buire-sur-L'Ancre, Querrieu F, Bouchon, Montieres, Monchaux and Longpre. In 1917 it is also recorded at Frencq, Embry, Valhuon, Agniers, Agnieres to nr Fampoux, Near Athies, Cavron St Martin, Bergueneuse, Les Puresbecque and Ames. In 1918 it is also recorded at Brusle, Brie, Montecourt, E. of Villecholles, Estrees, Fourques, Morchain, Potte, Curchy and Cappy.
