Bde operation order No. 76; Instructions to Accompany Brigade order No. 80; Extract from Routine orders 1st Cavalry Division Appendix "A".The diary opens at St. Sylvestre Cappel on 14 April 1915. 1915 is spent at Wormhoudt, Courset, Doudeauville, Roquetoire and Glomenghem. 1916 at Courset, Doudeauville, Hesdigneul, Gamaches and Questrecques. 1917 at Labeuvriere, Hesdigneul, Frencq, Estaires and Questrecques. 1918 is the most travelled year, 158 places against 79 in the next busiest, and is spent at Le Mesnil Bruntel, Fontaine L'Etalon, Genne-Ivergny, Flechin and Le Mesnil Brunkel. 1919 at Bedburg, Harff, Kirchherten, Konigshoven and Quadrath. It closes at Bedburg on 31 March 1919. Wormhoudt is where it spent longest, 265 days, it came back to Bedburg eleven separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 120 days at Courset.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Bernafay Wood, Aix Farm and Montigny Farm.In 1915 it is also recorded at 1 mile W of Elverdinghe, X 2ds 3/4 m S.W. Woestan, Woods 1/4 Miles N of X rd, Eykhoek, 16th Kilo Stone Poperinghe-Proven Rd, Herzeel, Esquelbecq, Vlamertinghe, Ypres and 8th Kilo Stone Vlamatinghe-Poperinghe Road. In 1916 it is also recorded at Sailly La Bourse, Hondeghem, Enquin, Bourthes, Hubersent, Voisin, Pernois, Querrieu, Bresle and Bettencourt Riviere. In 1917 it is also recorded at Questrecquest, Carly, Camiers, Longueville, Sehen, Halinghen, Parenty, Hucqueliers, Blangy-Sur-Ternoise and Humoreville. In 1918 it is also recorded at Le Mesnil, Bruntel, Reserve, Aix Farm, Hervilly, Roisel, Montigny Farm, Bernes, Bouvincourt and Ennemain. In 1919 it is also recorded at Kaster.
