Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Royal Army Medical Corps 2 and 4 Cavalry Field Ambulance, Divisional Troops, 2nd Cavalry Division, covering August 1914 to May 1919 across 974 pages. It names 284 places across 395 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries fourteen reports, narratives and plans, four Operation Orders, eight appendices and two diagrams. Among the papers are: Intelligence; Progress report of No. 2 Cavalry Field Ambulance; Detrainment and Billeting order; Operation Routine order No; Operation Routine order No. 8.The diary opens at Warley on 6 August 1914. 1914 is the most travelled year, 129 places against 94 in the next busiest, and is spent at Bleu, Chez De Vos, La Clytte, Braine and Warley. 1915 is spent at Vieux Berquin, Thiembronne, Le Nieppe, Roquetoire and Delette. 1916 at Bouriflet, Dominois, Morbecque, Tollent and Merris. 1917 at Dominois, Frevent, Tollent, Saleux and Templeux La Fosse. 1918 at Fromessent, Warlincourt Lez-Pas, Inchy-En-Artois, Invent and Rumigny. 1919 at Pepinster, Ensival, Comblinay Chateau, Chateau Fanson and Belgium Comblinay. It closes at Antwerp on 20 May 1919. Bouriflet is where it spent longest, 160 days across six separate stays, it came back to Dominois seven separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Chez De Vos.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Comblinay Chateau, Chateau Fanson, Chateau Lapree, Farm N W of Hollebeke, Villers Farm and Chateau NW of Hollebeke.In 1914 it is also recorded at Southampton, Dock, Off Havre, Rouen, Camp des Bruyeres, Hautmont, Wattignes, Douzie, Quievrant and Audregnies. In 1915 it is also recorded at Wizernes, La Becque, Chateau Lapree, Blendecques, Neuf Berquin, Bouve, Vlamertinghe, Esquelbecq, 1 1/4 M West of Ypres and Near Vlamertinghe. In 1916 it is also recorded at Watterdal, St Razeele, Doulieu, Near Merris, Meriss, Merris Hazebrouck 1,100,000, Roebecque, Hernicourt, Wail and Outrebois. In 1917 it is also recorded at Royon, Hardinval, Gaudiempre, Ronville, Wailly, Frohen Le Grand, Vaulx, Talmas, Pierregot and Hamelet. In 1918 it is also recorded at St Christ, Vermand, Salency, Couarcy, Mont A Lagache, Bailley, Bailly, Compiegne, Tronquiereu and Moyenneville. In 1919 it is also recorded at Esneux.
