Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Secunderabad Cavalry Brigade Headquarters, `N' Battery Royal Horse Artillery, 7th Dragoon Guards (Princess Royal), 20 Deccan Horse, 34 Poona Horse, Brigade Signal Troop, 13 Cavalry Machine Gun Squadron and Royal Army Veterinary Corps Mobile Veterinary Section, Divisional Troops, 5th Cavalry Division, covering January 1917 to April 1918 across 430 pages. It names 154 places across 304 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries nine reports, narratives and plans, twenty-eight Operation Orders, six appendices, one map and six diagrams. Among the papers are: Report by Listening Patrol; Reclassification of S.A.A., Grenades and Trench Stores Consequent on Relief of Ambala; Barrage Table issued with Sec'bad Cavalry Brigade operation order No.43; Relief Table issued with Sec'bad Cav. Bde O.O. 44 d/11-6-17; App a report on the operations on the night 4th/5th July; Relief Table issued with Sec'bad Cavalry Brigade operation order No: 47; Administrative instructions issued with O.O. 7th October 1917.The diary opens at Feuquieres Carroy Aigneville Frettenevle Harcelaines Buighy on 1 January 1917. 1917 is the most travelled year, 203 places against 56 in the next busiest, and is spent at Trefcon, Feuquieres, Bayonvillers and Monchy-Cayeux. 1918 is spent at Trefcon, Creuse, Leverguier, Belloy Sur Somme and Havernas. It closes at Egypt on 30 April 1918. Trefcon is where it spent longest, 428 days across twenty-eight separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 78 days at Beauchamps.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Montigny Farm, Mintigny Farm, Chateau Monchy-Cayeux, Trenches 3/4 mile E of Vadencourt and Mt Renault Farm.In 1917 it is also recorded at Beauchamps, Harcelaines, Aigneville, Buigny, Fequieres, Villeroy, Le Quesne, Andaineville, Le Mazis and Inval Boiron. In 1918 it is also recorded at Vadencourt, Bayonvillers, La Motte, St Sauveur, 3/4 Mile E of Vadencourt, Trenches 3/4 mile E of Vadencourt, Flesseles, Picquigny, Longpre and Cocquerel.
