Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 26 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, Divisional Troops, 1st Division, covering August 1914 to March 1917 across 240 pages. It names 63 places across 89 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, one report or narrative and three maps. Among the papers are: Casualties 26th Bde. R.F.A; Operation order Left Group.The diary opens at Aldershot N.C on 5 August 1914. 1914 is the most travelled year, 37 places against 15 in the next busiest, and is spent at Pilkem, Pargnan, Treville, Coulommiers and Aldershot. 1915 is spent at Vermelles, Richebourg, Givenchy, Fosse 7 and Lieres. 1916 at Les Brebis, Bottom Wood, Vermelles & Fosse 7, Molliens Au Bois and Grenay. 1917 at Villers Brettonneux, Estree, Rolincourt 1 Bn Wieb S A25, Cauchie and Bergueneuse. It closes at Rolincourt 1 Bn Wieb S A25 on 25 March 1917. Vermelles is where it spent longest, 126 days across six separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 44 days at Bottom Wood.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Bottom Wood.In 1914 it is also recorded at Southampton, South Hamp, Boulogne, Le Nouvion, Bone, Cartignies, Boue, Line Of March, Cartigny and Grand Regn. In 1915 it is also recorded at Lillers, Le Touret, Vermelles Cuinchy, Cuinchy, Annezin, Ferfay, Lapugnoy, Marle-Les. Mines and Fosse 7 & Vermelles. In 1916 it is also recorded at Auchel, Lozinghem, Navernas, Behencourt and In Defied. In 1917 it is also recorded at Houdain.
