It names 93 places across 124 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, eight reports, narratives and plans, one map and five diagrams. Among the papers are: Roll of Officers, H.E.Os and Men A, That Embarked with B Squadron 15th Hussars on 16th; Intelligence Summary No. 48; (Published with Routine orders of September 24th, 1914); Special order of the Day French, G., G., K.C., Commander-in-Chief, British Army; Special order of the Day French, G., G.,, Commander-in-Chief, British Army in the Field; Instructions As to the Transmission of a Soldier's Documents on Transfer, Posting, &c.The diary opens at Left Southampton on 16 August 1914. 1914 is the most travelled year, 43 places against 24 in the next busiest, and is spent at Givry, Caestre, Left Mons Dorigny, Chassemy and Verneuil. 1915 is spent at Rue De Lille, Bethune, Le Quesnoy, La Couture & Richebourg St Vaaste and Gorre & Marais. 1916 at Mailly-Maillet, Carency, Le Cauroy, Carnoy and Louvencourt. 1917 at Albert, Courcelette, Roclincourt, Ecurie and Frevin Capelle. It closes at Roclincourt on 30 April 1917. Rue De Lille is where it spent longest, 236 days across three separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 173 and it came back to Bethune four separate times.In 1914 it is also recorded at Disembarked Rouen, Boulogne, Rouen Road Camp, Entrained At Rouen, Joined 2nd Division At La Groese, Marched to Camp Noyelles, Wassigny, Marched From Novelles To La Longueville, Left La Lonqueville and Left Brouack. In 1915 it is also recorded at Lelobe, Hinges, Le Hamel, La Couture, Labeuvriere, Hesdigneul, Ferfay, Haut Rieux, Gosnay and Annequin. In 1916 it is also recorded at Beaurepaire, Rue De Lille, Essars, D.J. Sherman Returned From Consse At Liettre, Lilette, Beuvry, Wagon Lines Left Marles For Hersin, Barlin, Dieval and Hersin. In 1917 it is also recorded at Wavans, Frohen, Authieule, Bouzincourt, Bapaume, Pochvillers, Beauval and Anzin.
