Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 36 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, Divisional Troops, 2nd Division, covering August 1914 to December 1918 across 502 pages. It names 129 places across 200 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one report or narrative, four maps and seven diagrams. Among the papers are: Statement. R.F.A., Orderly Officer. XXXVI Bde. R.F.A. (18-pdrs.).The diary opens at Eivshot on 4 August 1914. 1914 is the most travelled year, 74 places against 25 in the next busiest, and is spent at Soupir, Fletre, Fontenay, Gwshots and Eivshot. 1915 is spent at Gorre, Loisne, Cambrin, La Couture and Bethune. 1916 at Euslon, Bully Grenay, Ablain, Divion and Bethune. 1917 at Bethune, Roclincourt, St Julien, Havrincourt and Le Preol. 1918 at Monchy & Adinfer, Trescault, Arras, Escarmain and Boursies. It closes at Merken on 31 December 1918. Euslon is where it spent longest, 125 days, including a single unbroken stay of 64 and it came back to Gorre eight separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Bouvigny Wood and Chateau Soupir.In 1914 it is also recorded at Ewshott, Southampton, Beachey Head, Boulogne, Vaux-Andigny, La Groise, Aulnoye, Genly, Nr. Mons and Bavai. In 1915 it is also recorded at Hinges, La Beuvriere, Corre, La Beuyriere Fouquereuil, Ames, Vaudricourt, Noyelles, Pont Tournant E of Bethune and Pont Fixe. In 1916 it is also recorded at Annequin, Gorre, Norrent Fontes, Noyelles Lez Vermelles, Gouy, Bouvigny Wood, Ablain St Nazaire, Vecquemont, Aaarucourts and 36th Bde RFA. In 1917 it is also recorded at Pozieres, Courchette, Concelette, Grevillers, Albert, Puchvillers, Outrebois, Boubers, Heuchins and Ruitz. In 1918 it is also recorded at Hermies, Haplincourt, Engelbelmer, Varennes, Roclincourt, St Nicholas, Blangy, Quesnoy, Vaulx-Vraucourt and Flesquieres.
