Among the papers are: Appendices II-IX Nos. 1 & 1A Are Missing; 5th Infantry Brigade operation order; Appendix XXIX special order; Table "A" issued with 2nd Division operation order No. 50; Appendix LXVI Table. X issued with 2nd Division operation order No. 55; Issued with operation order No. 44; Appendix I report on attack by 5th Brigade; Appendix II 5th Brigade instructions B.M. 550; Appendix III 5th Brigade instructions B.M.No. 556; Appendix V report on the attack of Oct. 2nd 1915; Brigade operation orders Nos. 63 & 64; Appendix 2 5th Brigade instructions No. 4.The diary opens at Aldershot on 4 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Soupir, Dhuizel, Aldershot, Klen Zuesete and Bailleul. 1915 at Cambrin, Loisne, Givenchy, Bethune and Gonnehem. It closes at Cottes on 31 December 1915. Cambrin is where it spent longest, 100 days across ten separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 28.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Polygone Wood.In 1914 it is also recorded at SS 'Lake Michigan', Rest Camp No 1 Boulogne, Billets-Le Petit Verly, Le Petit Verly, La Groise, Pont Sur Sambre, Paturages, Bavai, Noyelles and Les Cattiaux. In 1915 it is also recorded at Richebourg, Locon, Lacouture, Mt Bernechon, Chau Philomel Lillers, Mazingarbe, Fouqureuil, Noyelles Les Vermelles, Cuinchy and Hulluch Rd.
