Highland Light Infantry report on Mirer operation; 5 Infantry Brigade order No 333.The diary opens at Aidershot on 13 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Boulogne, Molensaarelhoek, Polygone Wood, Near Ypres and Gorre. 1915 is the most travelled year, 119 places against 93 in the next busiest, and is spent at Bethune, Givenchy, Cuinchy, Beuvry and Annequin. 1916 at G.H.Q St Omer, Coupigny, La Pierriere, Noyelle En Chaussee and Coigneau. 1917 at Allouagne, Le Preol, Dieval, Staubin and Bouzincourt. 1918 at Left Subsector, Bavincourt, Vacquerie, Right Front and Beaulencourt. 1919 at Worringen Am Rhein, St Omer, Langey An Rhein and Dunfermline. It closes at St Omer on 28 November 1919. Bethune is where it spent longest, 100 days across twenty-five separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 78 days at G.H.Q St Omer.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches Cuinchy, Polygone Wood, Trenches Colincamps Courcelles, Courcelles Vicinity Of Dorothy Trench, Velu Wood, Nonne-Boschen Wood, Enemy Trenches and Trenches Arleux.In 1914 it is also recorded at Hazebrouck, Godewaersvelde, Poperinghe, Near Boesinghe, Near St Julien, Nonne-Boschen Wood, Ballieul, Bailleul and Richeburg St Vaast.
