It names 63 places across 88 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two casualty and personnel returns, twenty-four reports, narratives and plans, thirty-one Operation Orders, sixteen appendices and one map. Among the papers are: Extracts from Letters Written to Their Relatives Found on wounded Germans; Extracts from Diary of Officer of German 2nd Field Artillery Regiment (III Corps), killed; 3rd Division. report on operations of the 3rd Division from 23rd August 1914. to 5th; Report on operations of the 3rd Division from the 14th September to 2nd October 1914; The following table will be substituted for that issued with operation order No.1; Preliminary order 3rd Division; Reported by Belgium Qeuflencan who Shewed Me His Identity Paper Apparently in order; Headquarters 2nd Army Corps. Routine order No. 5; Orders by G.O.C. 3rd Division; Preliminary order; Army Form C 2121 (ii). instructions; Preparatory order.The diary opens at Bulford Camp, Salisbury Plain on 5 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Lacouture, Braine, Bulford and House On Outskirts of Braine. 1916 at La Bretonniere and Bussieres. It closes at Bussieres on 9 September 1916. Lacouture is where it spent longest, 23 days across four separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 16 days at House On Outskirts of Braine.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Mont Noir Chateau and Chateau Hinges.In 1914 it is also recorded at Bussigny, Aulnoye, Havre in Train, Gognies, Noirchain, Nourchain, Bermerie, Bertry, Vrendam and Beaurevois Or Ham.
