Infantry; Defence orders While the Brigade is in Divisional Reserve Lt. Comdg. 1st Bn. Somerset Lt.The diary opens at Saintimes on 1 September 1914. 1914 is spent at Passy, Rozieres, Saintimes, Battle Of Verberie and Ch. La Mausadiere. 1915 at 1st Battalion The Somerset Light Infantry, Mesnil and Hedauville. 1916 at Lucheux, Beauval, Hannescamps Fonquevillers, Mesnil and Prouville. 1918 is the most travelled year, 22 places against 16 in the next busiest, and is spent at Curgies, Carvin, Haspres, Cambligneul and Mt. Bernenchon. 1919 at Haine Saint Pierre, Haine St. Pierre and Curgies. It closes at Haine Saint Pierre on 28 February 1919. Curgies is where it spent longest, 56 days across three separate stays, it came back to Mesnil seven separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 36 days at 1st Battalion The Somerset Light Infantry.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Prospect Farm.In 1914 it is also recorded at Villeneuve Le Comte, Maisoncelles, La Ferte and Les Abymes. In 1916 it is also recorded at Hedauville, Sus St. Leger, Pommier, Mondicourt, Authieule, Yvrench, Amplier and Bertrancourt. In 1918 it is also recorded at Cense La Vallee, Mount Bernenchon, Riez Du Vinage, Lawrence Camp, Monchy, Eterpigny, Prospect Farm, Orange Hill, Berneville and Fontaine Notre-Dame.
