Among the papers are: Casualties; Routine orders; A operation order; Routine orders by Brig Genl H by FM Wilson C.B, Command 12th Inf Bde; Billeting Orders-Night 6/7 September; Operation order Comdg 12th Inf Bde and attached Troops; Operation orders 12th Inf Brigade; 4th Division orders to 10th-12th October 1914; 12th Brigade operation Order.; Report on the Action of 2nd May, 1915; Reliefs for Tonight.; Reliefs on night 7/8th July, 1915.The diary opens at Dover on 7 August 1914. 1914 is spent at St Marguerite, Horsham St Faith, Cromer, Norwich and Neasden. 1915 at Ypres, Mailly Maillet, Le Bizet and Acheux. It closes at Ailly on 31 December 1915. Ypres is where it spent longest, 60 days across five separate stays, it came back to Mailly Maillet six separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at St Marguerite.In 1914 it is also recorded at Harrow, Southampton, Havre, Boulogne, Montigny, Ligny Bridge, Bethencourt, Vendville, Ronsoy and Voyennes. In 1915 it is also recorded at Bailleul, Duderdom, Peselhoek, Proven, Godewaersvelde, Freschvillers, Forceville, Auction Villers, Mailly and Aiheux.
