It names 25 places across 39 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries seven lists of honours and awards, nineteen casualty and personnel returns and one map. Among the papers are: 8th Division. list of awards made to officers for Distinguished Conduct in the Field; 8th Division. list of awards to W.O's, N.C.O's and Men Serving in the 8th Division; 2nd Devonshire Regiment Casualties. 1st July, 1916. officers; 2nd Bn. West Yorkshire Regiment Casualties. 1st July 1916. officers.The diary opens at Blaringhem on 1 January 1916. 1916 is the most travelled year, 16 places against 12 in the next busiest, and is spent at Henencourt, Sailly La Bourse, Belloy St. Leonard and Treux. 1917 is spent at Gurlu Wood, Belloy St. Leonard, Bray-Sur-Somme & Murepas, Minden Post and Corbie. It closes at Minden Post on 31 October 1917. Henencourt is where it spent longest, 90 days across four separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 31.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Gurlu Wood and Seves Wood.In 1916 it is also recorded at Sailly, Heiselles, Flesselles, Belloy Sur Somme, Cavillow, Bruay, Bethune, North Camp Garnoy and Belloy St. Leonards. In 1917 it is also recorded at Chippilly, Seves Wood, Heilly, Merris, Caestrie, Winnipeg Camp and Scottish Camp.
