It names 107 places across 155 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries six casualty and personnel returns, one report or narrative and three Operation Orders. Among the papers are: 8th Divisional Artillery. casualties that have occurred in Personnel during month Ending; Table "A" issued with 8th. D.A. order No. 97, 10/12/18. "G" Day.The diary opens at Hilsea on 9 September 1914. 1914 is spent at Estaires, Hilsea, Hursley, Le Havre and Le Drumez. 1915 at N. Of Estaires, Doulieu, Estaires, Merville and Baisieux. 1916 at Doulieu, Verquigneul, Carnoy, Millencourt and Belloy. 1917 at Poperinghe, Nieppe, Bray and Allaines. 1918 is the most travelled year, 57 places against 21 in the next busiest, and is spent at Mont St Eloi, Poperinghe, Vlamertinghe and Beauchamps. 1919 at Bassilly. It closes at Bassilly on 1 May 1919. Doulieu is where it spent longest, 181 days across nine separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 121 days at Bassilly.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Bronfay Farm.In 1914 it is also recorded at Hursley Camp, Southampton, Les Lauriers Near Merville, Merville, La Gorgue and Rouge De Bout. In 1915 it is also recorded at N. of Sailly, Morbecque and Roquetoire. In 1916 it is also recorded at Bavelincourt, Baisieux, Crouy, Auchel, Nouveau Monde, Annezin, Labeuvriere, Heuchin, Etree Wamin and Orville. In 1917 it is also recorded at Argueuvres, Dromesnil, Nr Goeuvres, Camp 117, Camp 111, Renescure, Clairmarais, Caestre, Eecke and Bailleul. In 1918 it is also recorded at Poperinghe Elverdinghe Rd, Guillaucourt, Caix, Marcelcave Ignaucourt, Ignaucourt, Aubercourt, Jumel, Ailly Rouvrel Thezy, St Nicholas and Boves.
