It names 211 places across 290 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two lists of honours and awards, two casualty and personnel returns, nine reports, narratives and plans and four maps. Among the papers are: Honours & awards Nov 1914 to Oct 1915; Honours & awards Oct. 1915-June 1916; Nominal roll of Offices Serving with the Battn 17 1/16; Casualties for month Ending Nov 30/16; To 24th Infantry Brigade. report on raid carried out on night 3rd/4th July; 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters report on the Offensive operations from 8th-10th May 1915; Special order of the Day by Field-Marshall Sir Douglas Haig. G.C.B., G.C.V.O., K.C.I.E; Routine orders, 8th Division; Narrative May 27th.The diary opens at Bombay on 31 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Hursley, Richebourg, Red Barn, Estaires and Harve. 1915 is the most travelled year, 95 places against 62 in the next busiest, and is spent at Richebourg, Pont du Hem, La Gorgue, No. 2 Section Trenches and B. Lines. 1916 at Selincourt, Camp 107 and Le Fay. 1917 at Corbie, Steenvoorde, Waterlands Camp, Heudicourt and Alzecourt Le-Haut. 1918 at Oppy, Tournai, Brugelette, Villers-Bretonneux and Woincourt. 1919 at Brugelette. It closes at Brugelette on 26 March 1919. Brugelette is where it spent longest, 81 days, it came back to Richebourg seventeen separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 33 days at Hursley.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include No. 2 Section Trenches, Selincourt Chateau, H. Q of Mechanic Trench, Ploegsteert Wood, Wolf Copse. Bully R IIa, HQ at Livossart and H.Q. Enguine Gatte. In 1917 it is also recorded at Camp 17, Camp 163, Moislains, Nurlu, Gouzeaucourt, Couzeaucourt, Lieramont, Villers-Guislain, HQ. Camp 18 12 Mile E.9 Suzanne and Camp 13 miles N.D?. In 1918 it is also recorded at Brandhoek, Line. N & W of Passchen Daele, Dead End. Ypres, Wolf Copse.
