It names 140 places across 171 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, one report or narrative and two appendices. Among the papers are: 2nd Northamptonshire Rgt. Appendix IX Showing casualties up to 30.11.14 Also State; 2nd Bn the Northamptonshire Regiment. report of Regimental Transport during the Action.The diary opens at Alexandria on 6 August 1914. 1914 is spent at Alexandria, H. T. Deseado, Havres Rest Camp No 6, Horsley Park and Winchester. 1915 at Sailly Sur Lys. 1916 at Villers Campsart, Camp 107 and Camp 112. 1917 is the most travelled year, 80 places against 61 in the next busiest, and is spent at Moislains, St Martin, Menegate Camp, Romarin Camp and Steenvoorde. 1918 at Front Line Oppy, Eecke, Left BN Regt Oppy, Lemain & Hertain and Meneslies. 1919 at Silly, Ath Belgium, Brussels, Lennick St Quentin and Enghien Silly. It closes at Ath Belgium on 31 March 1919. Silly is where it spent longest, 58 days across three separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Ath Belgium.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Vaucellette Farm, Ypres Salient Railway Wood Sub-Sector, Ritz Trench And Halfway House, Vaucellete Farm, Linde Goed Farm and Red Lodge Ploegsteert Wood.In 1914 it is also recorded at Gibraltar, Hursley Park and In Tillets. In 1917 it is also recorded at Camp 107 Near Billon Wood, St Maulvis, Camp 13, Asquiths Flats, Bouchavesnes, Sailly Laurette, Suzanne, Sailly-Le-Sec, Asquith Flats and Baths & G.d. 33. In 1918 it is also recorded at Warrington Camp, Hasler Camp, Bellevue, Sunderland Camp, Junction Camp, California Camp, Wattou, Boisdinghem, Jumel and Crouy. In 1919 it is also recorded at Enghien.
