It names 184 places across 233 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, two reports, narratives and plans, ten appendices, thirteen maps and twenty-four diagrams. Among the papers are: Evacuation of wounded in? Area-Oct 1915; Narrative of action 25th to 28 Sept. 1915; B.E.F. 1st S.A.F.A., 9th Division, O.C. Lt.. 17th Corps, 3rd Army. Phase "B"-Battle.The diary opens at Holcombe on 7 May 1915. 1915 is spent at Poperinghe, Busnes, Merris, Verdin-Lez-Bethune and Hong Cornet. 1916 at Nieppe, Arras, Agnez, Camblain L'Abbe and Fresnicourt. 1917 at Aubigny. "La. Maison Rouge", Ferme Doffine, Duisans, Haute Avesnes and Etrun. 1918 at Les Ceseaux, Nurlu, Ohligs, Morcourt and Hondeghem. 1919 at Hohen Habn Farm, Ohligs, Germany and Hohen Haby. It closes at Hohen Habn Farm on 24 October 1919. Nieppe is where it spent longest, 240 days across eight separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 124.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Hohen Habn Farm, Dioes Copse, Dives Copse, Billon Wood, Bronfay Farm, Bonfray Farm and Avringcourt Wood.In 1915 it is also recorded at Avonmouth, Roven, Southampton, Haure, Abeville, Wizernes, Arque, Argnes, Steenwerck and Nieppe. In 1916 it is also recorded at Abbeyville, A. H. T. D. Abbeville Dmance, Abbeville, Steenwerch Oranse, La Creche France, Stazeele, Merris, Neufberquin, Morbecque and Steenrecque. In 1917 it is also recorded at Lamaison Rouge, St Nicholas, Doffine Village, Tincques, La Thieuloye, Arras, Fosseux, Avesnes Le Comte, Ablainz-Ville and Rocquigny.
