Instruction issued in Connection with Move 20-10-17.The diary opens at Grove Town on 1 July 1916. 1916 is spent at Estree Cauchy, Sub-Section J. II, Agnes Les Duisans and Lattre St. Quentin, Lattre St Quentin and Mametz Wood. 1917 is the most travelled year, 67 places against 29 in the next busiest, and is spent at Arras, Sub-Section J. II, Monchy Breton, Simencourt and No 2 Section Right. 1918 at Suzanne, Gouzeaucourt Trenches, Gouzeaucourt Support Trenches, Heudicourt and Sorrel. It closes at Suzanne on 28 February 1918. Sub-Section J. II is where it spent longest, 51 days across four separate stays, it came back to Arras seven separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 23 days at Estree Cauchy.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Gouzeaucourt Trenches, L'Abbaye De Neuville Farm, Mametz Wood, Delville Wood, Couzeaucourt Trenches, Gouzeaucourt Support Trenches, Grovetown Valley Trigger Wood and Irish Farm.In 1916 it is also recorded at Grovetown Valley Trigger Wood, Talus Boise, Bernafay Wood, Montabaun and Delville Wood, Delville Wood, Long, La Thieuloye, Camblain L'Abbe, Lignereuill and Fortel. In 1917 it is also recorded at Arras, Forrester ND. St. Nicholas, Sub Section Right Sector, Hermaville, Y. Hutments, X. Huts, Orlencourt, L'Abbaye De Neuville Farm, 'Y' Huts, Larasset and Laresset. In 1918 it is also recorded at Gouzeaucourt Support and Sorrel Le Grand.
