Schedule to operation order 71; 1st South African Infantry Brigade operation order No. 73; Schedule Accompanying operation order No. 69; Move order; Move Order.. 3rd S.A. Infantry (Transvaal Regiment) order No. 17 in the Field 22/10/1916; 1st S.A.I. Brigade and attached Units March Table-Operation order 63 7th Oct 1916.The diary opens at Grand Rullecourt on 1 October 1916. 1916 is spent at Wanguetin, Sub Section J III, Arras, High Wood and Wanquetin. 1917 at J III Arras, Arras, Marquay and No I Section Right. It closes at Arras Centre Battn on 31 March 1917. Wanguetin is where it spent longest, 30 days, including a single unbroken stay of 30 and it came back to Arras four separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include High Wood, Starfish Trench, Mametz Wood and Trenches.In 1916 it is also recorded at Bonnieres, La Haussoye, Starfish Line, Acid Drop, Starfish Trench, Bazantin & Grand, Mametz Wood, Millencourt and Herrissart. In 1917 it is also recorded at Arras J III Sub.
