It names 99 places across 188 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, three reports, narratives and plans, one Operation Order and 54 diagrams. Among the papers are: Formation of Directorate. Return of Labour, Unskilled and Semi-Skilled, Other Than That; Instructions for Compilation of Statements of Surpluses and Deficiencies in Horse; Orders Etc for Silent Day; 21st Divisional Signal orders for Divisional Communications..The diary opens at Witley Camp on 8 September 1915. 1915 is spent at Armentieres, Merris, Watten, Hondeghem and Philosophe. 1916 at Armentieres, Ribemont, Sailly La Bourse and Duisans. 1917 at Moyenneville, Duisans, Lucheux, Hamelincourt and La Beuvriere. 1918 is the most travelled year, 49 places against 34 in the next busiest, and is spent at Longavesnes, Aulnoye, Haut-Allaines, Beauquesnes and Raincheval. 1919 at Molliens Vidame, Conde Folie, L 'Etoile and Armentieres. It closes at Conde Folie on 22 June 1919. Armentieres is where it spent longest, 265 days across seventeen separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 35 days at Lucheux.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Adinfer Wood, Scottish Wood and Chateau Segard.In 1915 it is also recorded at Havre, Racquinghem, Norrent Fontes, Ferfay, Noeux-Les-Mines, Bethune, Liettres and Morbecque. In 1916 it is also recorded at Armentieres Merris, Ribemont-Sur-Ancre, Meaulte, Belloy Sur-Somme, Cavillon, Ville, Le Cauroy, Fricourt, Authie and Buire. In 1917 it is also recorded at Wormhoudt, Bethune, Sailly La Bourse, Adinfer, Hamelinct, Caestre, Meteren, Scottish Wood, Blaringhem and Zevecoten. In 1918 it is also recorded at Haut Allaines Longauesnes, Templeux La Fosse, Clery, Maricourt, Bray, Sailly Laurette, Bresle, Bayelincourt, Allonville and Caestre.
