It names 80 places across 103 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, fourteen reports, narratives and plans, 32 Operation Orders, four defence schemes, three appendices and seven maps. Among the papers are: Nominal roll of officers on Effective Strength; Summary of Patrol reports for Week Ending August 25th 1917; Administrative orders; Administrative Orders. Appx 4; Administrative instructions; Instructions; Bear Administrative Orders. Appx 2; Orders; Administrative instructions Appx 4; Amendment to operation order No. 49; Preliminary orders for move tomorrow.The diary opens at Boyelles on 1 August 1917. 1917 is spent at Berneville, Ypres, Heudicourt, Fontaine Lez-Croisilles and Maroeuil. 1918 is the most travelled year, 56 places against 32 in the next busiest, and is spent at Aymeries, Heudicourt, Walincourt, Trenches. Heudecourt and Moislains. 1919 at Fourdrinoy, Foudrinoy and Bouchon. It closes at Bouchon. And Longpre on 24 April 1919. Fourdrinoy is where it spent longest, 70 days across three separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 52.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches. Heudecourt, Regent St Dugouts Irish Honse, Polyeone Wood, Siege Farm and Line Ridge Wood.In 1917 it is also recorded at Bn. HQ Boyelles, Moyenville, Moyenneville, Croisilles, Pradelles, Le Roukloshille, Westoutre, Polyeone Wood, Near Reutel and La Belle Hotesse. In 1918 it is also recorded at Templeux-La-Fosse, Green Line to Bray, Bray, Hangest, Locre, Wytschaete Reserve, Line Wytschaete, Regent St Dugouts Irish Honse, Siege Farm and Ouderdom. In 1919 it is also recorded at Fourdrin.
