Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 13th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, 68 Infantry Brigade, 23rd Division, covering September 1914 to October 1917 across 212 pages. It names 93 places across 125 dated entries.The diary opens at Bullswater on 17 September 1914. 1914 is spent at Bullswater. 1915 at Bramshott, Jesus Farm, Petit-Moulin, Estaires and Sailly Sur Lys. 1916 is the most travelled year, 53 places against 36 in the next busiest, and is spent at Winnipeg Camp, Armentieres, Reclinghem, Becourt Wood and Albert. 1917 at Winnipeg Camp, Mont Des Cats, The Barracks Ypres, Bollezeele and Micmac Camp. It closes at Tatinghem on 31 October 1917. Bullswater is where it spent longest, 498 days, including a single unbroken stay of 249 and it came back to Winnipeg Camp four separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Jesus Farm, Becourt Wood, Trenches 55-58, Trenches I.31. 1-5, Trenches I.18.4-I.17.4, Railway Dugouts, Trenches I.21.3-4 I.15.1 I.15.2 I.16 and Trenches I.31.1-2-3-4-5.In 1915 it is also recorded at Bramshott Camp, Moule, Hazebrouck, Steenwerck, Trenches 55-58, Erquinghem, Bois Grenier, Trenches Near Erquinghem, Rue de Lettree and Rue De Biez. In 1916 it is also recorded at Hallobeau, Trenches I.21. 3-4 I 15.1-2 I.16, Trenches I.21. I.15 1and 2 I.16, Fort Rompu, Rue de Lettree, Trenches I.31. 1-5, Rue Quesnoy, Calonne Square, Bully Grenay and Coupigny. In 1917 it is also recorded at Houtkerque, 'L' Camp, 'E' Camp, Millam, Ypres, Godewaersvelde, Scottish Lines, Halifax Camp, St Mc Adam Cappell Camp and St. Macadam Cappell.
