Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the 11th Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), 69 Infantry Brigade, 23rd Division, covering August 1915 to October 1917 across 171 pages. It names 80 places across 120 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two casualty and personnel returns, one report or narrative, three Operation Orders and one map. Among the papers are: A Company Casualty report 25/9/17; D. Company 11th (S) Batt. West. Yorkshire. Regt. Battle casualties; Operation instructions 10th. Battalion Duke of Wellington S Regiment.The diary opens at Southampton on 25 August 1915. 1915 is spent at Hollobeau, Havre, Erquingham, Estaires and Fort Rompu. 1916 at Ypres, St. Lawrence Camp, Divion, Erquinghem and Jesus Farm. 1917 at Battle Wood Sub Sector Of Line, Steen Voorde, Ypres Salient and Zillebeke Bund. It closes at Moringhem on 31 October 1917. Battle Wood Sub Sector Of Line is where it spent longest, 62 days, including a single unbroken stay of 62 and it came back to Ypres fourteen separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Battle Wood Sub Sector Of Line, Ypres Salient, Jesus Farm, Trenches Near Le Sars, English Wood, Scots Redoubt, Becourt Wood and Round Wood.In 1915 it is also recorded at Armentieres. In 1916 it is also recorded at Armentieres, Vieux Berquin, Estaires, Steenbecque, Haillecourt, Grande Servins, Callonne Ricquart, Billets Coupigny, Coupigny and Fosse 10. In 1917 it is also recorded at St. Lawrence Camp, Ypres, Merchergem, Bayenghem, Merckeghem, Herzeele, 'Y' Camp, 'Y' Near Near Poperinghe, 'Y' Coy Near Poperinghe and Ottawa Camp Nr Poperinghe.
