It names 83 places across 127 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries eight reports, narratives and plans, 59 Operation Orders, eleven appendices and one map. Among the papers are: Div Routine order Corps; Special order; Appendix D. the Distinguished Service order; Attempted German raid on the Battn. trenches; Report on the operations of 31st July, 1917; Addendum to operation order No. 204. 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment; Addendum to operation order No. 210; Orders in Continuation of operation order No. 12.. 1st. Battalion North Staffordshire.The diary opens at Philosophe on 1 February 1917. 1917 is spent at Micmac Camp, Calonne, Busnettes, Senninghem and Dickebusch. 1918 at Bully Grenay, Nomain, Vendelles, Tournai and Left Sub Section. 1919 at Tournai and Camphin. It closes at Camphin on 31 May 1919. Tournai is where it spent longest, 93 days across four separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 31 and it came back to Bully Grenay eight separate times.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Cote Wood, Battle Wood Support, Mount Sorrel Trenches and Montrecourt Wood.In 1917 it is also recorded at Hulluch Right Sub-Section, Noeux-Les-mines, Moroc Left Sub Section Calonne Defenses, Fouquereuil, Bully Grenay, Maroc, Cite St. Pierre, Allouagne, Westrehem and Reclinghem. In 1918 it is also recorded at Montigny, Support, Vraignes, Bernes, Corbie, Devise, Vermand, Niebas, Huclier and Cite St. Pierre. In 1919 it is also recorded at Tournai Camphin.
