Royal Irish Rifles on 1st July 1916; Report on the operations Near Moeuvres on the 22nd and 23rd November 17; Instructions for Offensive; Operation order 22nd November 17; Operation orders 23rd Nov 17; Narrative of Events on the 1st July 1916.The diary opens at Boulogne on 2 October 1915. 1915 is spent at Vauchelles Les-Quesnoy, St. Maugille & Neuville, Bernaville, St Leger Les Domarts and Boulogne Pierregot. 1916 is the most travelled year, 163 places against 129 in the next busiest, and is spent at Englebelmer, Messines, Martinsart, Forceville and Trenches U11-U19 S.W. Of Messines. 1917 at Havrincourt, Meteren, Schaexken and Kemmel. 1918 at Mouscron Belgium & France, Douchy, Villeselve and Happencourt. 1919 at Mouscron and Arnoldsweiler. It closes at Arnoldsweiler on 30 March 1919. Englebelmer is where it spent longest, 104 days across eleven separate stays, it came back to Messines thirteen separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 91 days at Havrincourt.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches U11-U19 S.W. Of Messines, Martinsart Wood, Thiepval Wood, Red Lodge Ploegsteert Wood, Trenches, Trenches 138-142 SW Messines, Trenches S.W Of Havrincourt and Right Sector Of Trenches.In 1915 it is also recorded at Rubempre, Mailly Maillet, Hedauville, Puchevillers Fienvillers, Halloy, Bayencourt, Buigny L'Abbe, Vauchelles and Les-Quesnoy. In 1916 it is also recorded at Vauchelles Les-Quesnoy, Ribeaucourt, Domesmont Lanches & Barlette, Bernaville, Beaumetz, Canaples, Toutencourt, Halloy-Les Pernois, Hedauville and Puchevillers Herissart. In 1917 it is also recorded at Meterin Near, Meteren Village, Bulford Camp, Trenches N 36 4 To 6.3, HQs At Neuve Eglise, Neuve Eglise, Trenches N 36 4 T 6.4, Korteypyp Camp, McBrides Mansions and Kortypyp Camp.
