Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Headquarters, Leicestershire Regiment 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Battalion, Brigade Machine Gun Company and Brigade Trench Mortar Battery, 110 Infantry Brigade, 37th Division, covering September 1914 to December 1916 across 536 pages. It names 92 places across 220 dated entries.Alongside the daily entries the volume carries three reports, narratives and plans, one Operation Order, one defence scheme, three maps and one diagram. Among the papers are: Operation order No. 21 110th Inf. Bde. Area. Appendix B; Scheme for defence of Berles Sector. Group VIII Bombing scheme for counter attack; Standing orders for Berles Au Bois.The diary opens at Bourke Camp on 24 September 1914. 1914 is spent at Bourke Camp and Mandora Barracks Aldershot. 1915 at Pommier, Perham Down, Bienvillers, Trenches Bienvillers Section and Folkestone. 1916 is the most travelled year, 108 places against 82 in the next busiest, and is spent at Bienvillers, Pommier, Sus St Leger, Saulty and Trenches W Of Monchy. It closes at Bienvillers Billets on 31 December 1916. Bienvillers is where it spent longest, 273 days across thirty separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 111 days at Perham Down.Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches W Of Monchy, Left Sector Trenches, Trenches Bienvillers Section, Trenches Berles-Au-Bois, Trenches Hannescamps, Trenches 57b 68, Trenches Left and Trenches 58-67.In 1915 it is also recorded at Blachuntes & Juhtuers, Mandora, Barracks Aldershot, Pecham Down, Perham Down Camp Tidworth, England, France, Boulogne, Houlle and Ostrohove. In 1916 it is also recorded at Billets Bienvillers, Becles, Left Sector Trenches, Billers Bienvillers, Trenches N Of Monchy, Berles, Humber Camp, St Amand, Grandham and Bekles Trenches.
